LAGO 5.23 is available now!

Dear customers,

With the LAGO Summer Release 2023, Comosoft is focused on optimizing LAGO advertising production. We have streamlined the standard export in LAGO Transfer for more efficient workflows and streamlined data exchange, added further options for language-related element property types in LAGO Admin, and implemented some enhancements in LAGO Layout for handling placeholder markers and optimizing template documents.

With these meaningful improvements, you'll breeze through the summer of 2023 with ease.

For more detailed information about the changes and new features, please check the release notes for LAGO 5.23. And, as always, the Comosoft support team is available to assist users with any questions or concerns they may have during the update process or while using the new features.

Managing Director

Transfer

  • In the standard export of LAGO, one line is currently output per variant. This is done even if all data of the article are identical across the variants. From now on, the output end can be drastically reduced here. With the new setting "Combine variants" if this is set, a new line is only output if the data sets differ.

LAGO Layout

  • In LAGO Layout, it is now possible to switch the highlighting of placeholders on and off directly via the Placeholder palette. It is no longer necessary to control the display via the somewhat more cumbersome configuration dialog.
  • To optimize performance when creating new catalog pages, a new default document type has been introduced in LAGO Layout. The previous default document is still used when it is edited and saved. At the same time, a new default document stub is created locally when saving. This is now used for new or restored catalog pages. A current version of the new "stub" is automatically created in the user-defined cash folder each time the default document is edited and saved. The new LFS file type "tmpstb" must be added to the drive of a servlet in LAGO Admin.

LAGO Admin

  • It is now possible to maintain translations for element feature types in LAGO Admin.

LAGO 5.22 is available now!

Dear customers,

Cloud computing has gone from being a popular trend over the past two to three years to becoming an essential need for many companies. Defined in the simplest way, cloud computing involves providing IT resources, applications, and data centers over the Internet, with fees based on usage.

The advantages of cloud computing are clear, including a significant reduction in internal IT administration efforts, the elimination of investment costs for server hardware, and most importantly, the ability to adapt IT systems quickly to suit current business needs–these are just a few examples of the many benefits of cloud computing.

However, these new possibilities also place responsibility on software providers like Comosoft to deliver systems like LAGO in the cloud. This requires careful attention to detail, as there is an expectation that cloud-hosted systems perform on par with their on-premise counterparts, while also meeting rigorous cybersecurity standards.

To ensure that LAGO is ready for cloud computing, we have subjected it to various penetration tests over the last few months, identifying and fixing any vulnerabilities, replacing libraries, and closing software gaps. The end result is that LAGO is ready for deployment to any cloud provider.

Along with security updates, LAGO 5.22 introduces several new features and improvements. Please review the release notes and feel free to reach out to your Comosoft contact if you have any questions about specific features or functions.

Managing Director

  • Security
In LAGO 5.22, a number of security vulnerabilities in the form of obsolete libraries have been closed. These have been replaced by the corresponding latest version. In addition, our automatic process when compiling versions has been further improved to detect potential security vulnerabilities directly.
  • Automatic skipping of workflow statuses
Now available, workflow statuses for individual variants of a document can be skipped automatically. An example would be a page in several language variants, for which the first correction status is to be used only for the standard variant. Further language variants should only generate an order in the second correction status.
For the use of the feature two conditions must be fulfilled. First, the workflow must have the document status action "Keep document variants synchronized" set in all statuses. Furthermore, it must be defined on a document itself which statuses are to be skipped. In LAGO PIM, this can be defined in the bridge. There is a new button for this in LAGO Explorer. The statuses to be skipped are also displayed in all document lists as a comma-separated list.
Please note that this function does not take effect retroactively, so that the status in which the document variant is currently located cannot be skipped.
  • Display of open jobs for document variants
It is now possible to query whether open jobs for document variants exist in the document lists of LAGO Explorer, LAGO Whiteboard, LAGO Proof and LAGO PIM using a new icon.
This is useful when a workflow uses the document status action "Keep document variants in sync" to identify those document variants in which there are still open jobs without having to switch to the job list to do so.
  • Display of asset attributes in LAGO DAM
In LAGO DAM, asset attributes can now be displayed within the Bridge group "User-defined fields". When multiple assets are selected, only the asset attributes that are common to the selection are displayed. If there is an inequality, a '?' is displayed instead. The "Custom Fields" view can be configured in LAGO Admin under Permissions & Workflows, in the Workspaces section.
  • Display of "Switchouts" in LAGO Whiteboard
In the page layout and in the placement mode of LAGO Whiteboard, there is now the function "Highlight switchouts", which can be activated via the button of the same name. The function ensures that differently populated raster fields between the variants, are highlighted in color. The color of the raster field, depending on the color of the selected department, is displayed with half opacity in the case of different placement.

LAGO 5.21 is available now!

Dear customers,

We are happy to announce the release of LAGO 5.21 to kickoff 2023.

With LAGO 5.21 you now have the ability to update the Article Types of an Article via import. With a simple configuration of the standard import, you can change an Article’s type across the entire database. This will also adopt the Article Properties for the new type, giving you maximum flexibility in your product data model.

There are also new Document Check Runs available in LAGO Layout and LAGO Layout Server. Your production team can now quickly and easily identify invalid assets based on criteria like whether an asset is locked, logically deleted, not marked as "visible to all", or if its validity period does not include the current date.

Please read the Release Notes for full details about all the new and useful improvements in LAGO 5.21.

As always, we’re happy to help and advise you on how to use new LAGO features. Feel free to reach out to Comosoft‘s support team any time for assistance.

Peter Jozefiak
Managing Director

  • Changing article types of an article via import
It is now possible to update the article type of articles via standard import. For this purpose, the corresponding settings for the standard import configurations have been introduced in LAGO Admin. This leads to a global update of the article type including adaptation of existing article characteristics.
  • Extended functions for components in the LAGO API
The LAGO API now has endpoints for handling component-article mappings. These can be created, updated or deleted. In addition, the existing endpoint for creating new components has been enhanced to support local components.
  • Administrative tasks for assets in LAGO DAM and LAGO Admin
Administrative tasks previously only available in LAGO Pict, such as the final deletion of one or all assets, as well as the re-creation of FPO and preview files, are now also available in LAGO DAM. Logically deleted assets can also be restored.
The assignment of asset types to categories, which is used in the creation of asset components in the element layout, is now also located in LAGO Admin.
  • New features in LAGO Whiteboard and LAGO PIM
The already existing page swap feature in LAGO Whiteboard now allows for use in environments with compressed documents and different page layouts, as well as page layout customization in different variants.
When copying elements from other projects, the dialog already available from LAGO PIM, can now optionally be displayed with detailed setting options to decide which details of an element should be copied.
Furthermore, split elements are now additionally indicated by a symbol at the bottom of the grid field.
Furthermore, LAGO PIM now also offers the option to delete existing article-element assignments, which compliments the management of articles and elements.
  • New check runs for invalid assets in LAGO Layout and LAGO Layout Server
A new set of validation check runs are available in LAGO Layout and LAGO Layout Server. These validation runs detect assets that should not be placed or used for various reasons. This includes a logical deletion, date expiration, or if an asset has not been marked "visible to all". If such a check run in LAGO Layout Server fails, the job is not processed and a corresponding message is written to the queue for the corresponding job.
  • Improved use of hyperlinks in LAGO InDesign
It is now possible to apply hyperlinks in LAGO Layout to component types such as layout, logo and image components. The hyperlinks are preserved during document editing. Also, these hyperlinks are supported by the PDF export process through the Layout Server.
