Welcome to the 2020s!

2020 is the year of predictions! Baba Vanga, Mühlhiasl, and Nostradamus all prophecies a predestined future of the whole world. However, we at Comosoft see the future in a much rosier light, even if there are some challenges to overcome. But that is why we are all here for, because "simply anyone can do it"!

A lot has already happened at Comosoft in the first two months of 2020. Not only are we releasing new great functions with LAGO Release 5.7, simplifying your daily work and creating space for creativity and innovation, we were also able to agree on a highly interesting partner model with our partner Oracle, that the use of Oracle JAVA SE is very much simplified and allows you to use LAGO no matter which IT environment you use in connection with LAGO in terms of licensing. We would be pleased to provide you with more detailed information and are awaiting your call. Please contact your account representative for more details on what we can offer.

• Support of 3rd party products
  Starting with LAGO 5.7.1, JAVA 11, and Adobe Creative Cloud 2020 are supported.
• LAGO API
  The LAGO API has been extended by many functions. It is now possible to import assets and retrieve and change asset property details. Project variants can also be created, updated, and deleted. Furthermore, asset components can be created and deleted.
• LAGO Whiteboard
  Our new LAGO web-based application, LAGO Whiteboard, is now completed. LAGO Whiteboard has many new features and improvements in addition to the functions previously available in LAGO Layout. For example, a completely new planning mode based on variant groups is now available. Furthermore, working with manual adjustment of page layouts and grid fields across several variants has been optimized. LAGO now takes over the mental work for you and automatically creates new variants or automatically reunites identical variants.
• LAGO DAM
  The web-based application "LAGO MAM" (Media Asset Management) was renamed to "LAGO DAM" (Digital Asset Management). In the course of renaming the application, entries in the central configuration were also adjusted. The entries from the "MAMSearch" and "MAMUsageSearchFields" sections are now found under "DAMSearch" and "DAMUsageSearchFields". Existing entries are automatically renamed during the update.
• LAGO PIM
  The web-based application LAGO PIM has been enhanced with new features. It is now possible to manage projects, variants, and variant groups.
• Workspace configuration for LAGO Whiteboard, LAGO Proof and LAGO PIM
  It is now possible to define a workspace configuration for LAGO Whiteboard, LAGO Proof, and LAGO PIM. Within a workspace configuration, it possible to customize the toolbar for the applications by controlling button/icon visibility, in addition to customizing the visibility of bridge groups and fields within each bridge group. The workspace configuration can then be assigned to one or more workgroups.
• LAGO Scripting
  LAGO Scripting now also supports the functions "min()" and "max()" for article properties, as well as the tokens "$(KATVALIDFROM)" and "$(KATVALIDTO)" in LAGO Layout.
• Limiting the Visibility of Asset Types
  It is now possible to assign workgroups to asset types. This assignment is done in LAGO Admin. For the assignment, you can define whether users of a workgroup can view and/or edit the asset types. Assets of types that are not visible are thus hidden from searches. Please note that filtering is currently only implemented in LAGO DAM. The implementation of filtering for LAGO Explorer, LAGO Pict and LAGO Layout is planned for LAGO 5.8.
• Set overdue jobs automatically to completed
  It is now possible to define for a job template within a workflow status that the job is automatically set to "completed" if the job is overdue.
• Export of search folder results
  It is now possible to export articles or items based on previously created search folders. An existing search folder structure is taken into account. This is possible via XML as well as via the standard export.
• Security
  For security reasons, access to the servlet information pages is only possible with user authentication.

LAGO 5.6 is available now!

Dear LAGO users,

In the past months, we have concentrated strongly on necessary updates for LAGO, some of them visible like what we have done in the HTML5 Whiteboard and HTML5 Proof, while others required work “under the hood".

Many of these achievements and results are now available in the new LAGO 5.6 release while others will be available in the coming months.

Performance improvements, new synchronization methods, support for macOS Catalina, improvements to the HTML5 Proof and Whiteboard are all available in this version.
In the coming months, we will announce support for Adobe Creative Cloud 2020 and Java 11+.Stay tuned…

• LAGO Explorer, "New" synchronization method
  A new synchronization method between LAGO projects now allows elements and their associated articles and text components to be synchronized between the source and target projects. A new button has been added to the Explorer for this purpose. If this button is pressed, a dialog appears in which the project, the target variant and the presettings configured in Central Configurations can be selected. This new method makes it easier to keep documents in synchronization, even if the documents have already been synchronized.
• Lago Layout, Automatically update logos
  A new feature in the element layout editing dialog allows you to automatically update logos on pages. For this purpose, the checkbox "Update logos when opening a page" must be set in the Logos area of a selected component template in the Logo category. Further information about this can be found in our LAGO Webhelp documentations.
• LAGO performance enhancements
  Significant performance improvements were achieved through extensive revisions. This applies to both the Web Apps and the LAGO InDesign Plugin.

Dear LAGO users,

Autumn is just around the corner as summer 2019 comes to an end.
With the beginning of the colorful season, life begins to pulsate again and pick up speed. This does not mean that Comosoft has "dangled its legs" during the summer. Quite the opposite! We have been hard at work this past summer developing many new features and functionalities for you, especially in the area of "Proofing" and "Whiteboard". Additionally, we have implemented even more interesting innovations, allowing you to design the production of advertising material even more efficiently. With LAGO 5.5.1, you can easily compare correction documents and certified documents, or simply highlight and cross out text (just to name a few). Just ask us and we will be happy to explain the new possibilities that LAGO 5.5.1 offers you.

• LAGO Proof in PDF quality without Acrobat license costs
  LAGO Proof uses PDF documents to meet the highest quality standards for slim documents. Texts remain perfectly legible even when zooming in and out. This makes (the support of) Adobe Acrobat in LAGO obsolete and the original license costs associated with it unnecessary for our customers.
• New correction tools in LAGO Proof
  LAGO offers two long missing text correction tools. Both text highlighting and text strikethrough are now possible. Both correction tools, like all other marks, can be labeled and provided with instructions.
• LAGO Proof with Correction Marks in Element Context
  LAGO offers the possibility to link correction marks with a single element within a document. The correction marks are only visible in the variants in which the element exists, i.e. only in the correct context.
  The correction marks change position depending on where the element is moved to. If the element is deleted, the linked correction marks are also removed.
• Document comparison in LAGO Proof
  In LAGO Proof it is possible to compare correction documents of different variants or certified documents with the help of a slider. This allows differences between variants or between the workflow status of a document to be visualized.
  All the user has to do is select two correction or certificates documents and click the "Compare" button. The documents are displayed one above the other in a comparison view. A slider below the documents allows you to show and hide the documents step by step in real time. A "Flip" button allows the first or second document to be faded in completely to allow a quick comparison between the states.
• Subcategories for placement rules
  In LAGO Admin Extend it is possible to create subcategories for placement rules. This enables manual intervention in an otherwise fully automatic placement process.
  For example, you can manually adjust the size or color of price tags placed using the rules of an element layout. The edited price tags remain available for rule-based exchange processes.
• Rule-based selection of element layouts in page layouts
  The page layout functionality has been enhanced to allow automatic selection and application of element layouts based on the evaluation of predefined rules. This functionality was implemented at the request of our customers at the last US user conference.
• LAGO API
  Following the recent US User Conference, Comosoft conducted a survey among our customers to develop the LAGO API in the optimal order for our customers so that the API could be deployed as early as possible. This and a customer project resulted in the requirement to be the first to make the API available in the Assets area. Assets can be searched, modified and loaded via their properties as well as via their use in the article context.

  In order to consolidate LAGO terminology and make it easier to understand, some terms have been adapted.Modules -> Applications
