LAGO 5.8 is available now!
Dear customers,
The world has been facing one of the greatest challenges in modern times. This pandemic has forced us to abandon many of our daily freedoms and activities we take for granted. The Comosoft global team is taking all precautions seriously in order to protect each other, and more importantly elderly members of our society, by maintaining all work-from-home and social distancing protocols. All team members are in constant communication with each other and with our customers every day. We are here to help you in every possible way.
As a result of these events, LAGO users were suddenly quarantined to their home offices forced to figure out how to keep their workflows moving. Most IT organizations were not immediately prepared to have their entire workforce complete their daily responsibilities from a home office environment on such short notice. Accessing mission critical systems remotely overnight proved to be a major challenge. There were firewall and security concerns that needed to defined and set up quickly to allow the flow of work to continue uninterrupted. These world events have changed the way IT departments have prepared their users to work from any location, anytime safe and secure.
Comosoft has always had built-in security protections, but we have refined and developed additional data protections to support remote workforce needs for the future. With LAGO 5.8, you will have the confidence and assurances that your data and content is 100% secure and restricted from any outside entity. Your teams can work in a secured LAGO environment safely from any location in the world. We have also implemented many other useful features in LAGO 5.8 and are happy to provide you a complete overview anytime. Please contact your account representative for immediate questions or demonstrations.
Comosoft’s number one priority is to stay connected and responsive to all of our customer and partner needs as we continue to adapt to these rapidly changing work environments.
Best regards and stay healthy

- JAVA 11 support
Starting with LAGO 5.8, the use of JAVA 11 is required for both clients and the LAGO Application Server. - Export and Import Excel document
LAGO 5.8 offers you a new and easy way to collaborate with external users for the processing of article and article property data without requiring these users to be logged into LAGO. Instead, they can work directly with an exported Excel document from LAGO Explorer.
To support this use case, the existing option to export an article list to a file from LAGO Explorer has been expanded. Article and article property data can now be conveniently exported to Excel (.xlsx) with field headers. These headers will then be used to import and map data back in LAGO once the file has been updated by a user.
The updated Excel file can then be placed in a LAGO import folder for direct import. In this method, the conversion into a CSV file that follows the structure for a LAGO standard import is not required. - Security improvements
LAGO 5.8 offers a variety of security improvements to help keep LAGO secure and up-to-date with current security requirements based on organizational audits, third-party customer audits, and OWASP best practices.
With version LAGO 5.8, SSL (TLS 1.3) is fully supported and a prerequisite for the installation of LAGO.
LAGO 5.8 also provides a configurable password rule that allows you to enforce minimum length, upper case letters, digits, and special characters for passwords. Only hashes generated with bcrypt/Blowfish are used to store login data in LAGO users.
The use of proprietary keys has been removed and access to version information of the components used in the system is only possible after successful authentication.
This upgrade requires migration and configuration efforts by Comosoft technicians. Please contact your Comosoft account representative prior to upgrading to LAGO 5.8. - LAGO API enhancements
The LAGO API has been enhanced with many new functions. A CRUD API is now available for projects, elements, articles, and prices. This means that you can create, change, retrieve, and delete the most important LAGO objects and their details using the LAGO API. - LAGO PIM enhancements
LAGO PIM (the HTML5 replacement for LAGO Plan & MerchPlanning) has been extended by a large number of functions. It is now possible to manage not only projects and variants but also documents and shops of a project. PDF archiving for projects can also be triggered and viewed. Overall, a large portion of the functions from LAGO Plan are now available in LAGO PIM. - Suppress automatic creation of article property types via import
Do you have problems managing the integrity of article property data? Imagine a scenario where you are configuring a new import routine, which is supposed to import article properties, as well as articles, and then a typo in the description of a property appears in the data file you send to LAGO. Previously, this always resulted in this property being created as a new property type since LAGO automatically creates the new property type and then assigns it to the corresponding article type. You can now suppress property type creation via import, as a configurable option. In addition, you can also configure whether a warning should appear in the import log. Contact us if you have any questions about the setup. - Automatic creation of article references
Do you need a large number of article references for cross-selling activities in your digital channels? Are many of these references based on fixed rules and attributes that you have already maintained for your articles? If so, you can now use them to generate article references automatically. To do this, you simply define one or more characteristics, which must have an identical value on two articles and a reference category. LAGO does the rest for you. - Workgroup assignment to asset types
Do you have asset types with sensitive data that should only be visible to a limited group of users? Or do you want to give external employees or service providers access to LAGO DAM, but with restricted viewing/editing options?
With the option of assigning workgroups to asset types, we have created a smarter way to control access and editability to assets. Similar to the existing assignment of user groups to individual assets, this new option is done as a definition to the asset type.
The assignment of workgroups to asset types is done in LAGO Admin. In LAGO 5.7, this was already in place for LAGO DAM. With LAGO 5.8, the evaluation takes place in all areas of LAGO where assets are used or displayed. - Element layout enhancement
The element layout configuration now allows you to define the creation of image components based on assets assigned to the element ONLY. Get creative and couple this feature (optional) with the existing Asset XML function of assigning assets to an element.
